Our Human Ressources policy

The company has a unique HR policy:

Integration of new recruits

A warm welcome is part and parcel of Saint Louis Sucre’s corporate culture. That is why new recruits benefit from a highly structured integration plan during their first year with us.
During the first half of every year, all new managers spend several days learning about the company’s environment and policies, and discussing its strategy, while building informal contacts with their fellow workers.

Managerial policy

Saint Louis Sucre’s management, based on a networking work model, is decentralised and encourages involvement. The hierarchical chain of command is short (4 levels at most), which fosters everyone’s efficiency and autonomy.
Managers undergo regular skills reviews which enable them to assess the progress they have made and to strengthen their management role.

The networking work model

Networking is one of the fundamental working models at Saint Louis Sucre. A hundred inter-disciplinary, cross-site, mixed-hierarchy groups are constantly working on the most varied issues.
Whether they be empowered to take decisions or have an advisory capacity, the company’s networks enable everyone to influence the decisions, the practices and the directions taken by the company. Furthermore, they enable everyone taking part to gain an insight into other trades and get to know other colleagues.
It is through such initiatives that the company developed its approach to integrating new recruits, for instance.

Training

Saint Louis Sucre considers training to be of the utmost importance. Training programmes are staged over several years and are designed to adapt to technical and technological innovations or foster personal career development. They are devised as part of the company’s long-term human resources and skills management.

The 35-hour working week
Measures for the reduction and planning of the working week have been in place at Saint Louis Sucre since 1999.
Depending on what job they do, some employees work shorter hours each day, and others simply have more time off (18 days over a year).

Mobility

Saint Louis Sucre is keen to foster staff mobility. Employees are encouraged to move between different jobs. And geographical mobility is made as easy as possible for those who want to change their working environment from one site to another.

The social policies of a leading employer

- The average wage at Saint Louis Sucre is 35,816 euros / year before tax, a significant level when one considers that only 10% of the company’s employees are in management, and over 50% are factory workers.
- The company provides its employees with highly attractive social benefits: health insurance, contingency fund, pension, etc.
- Employee and performance-related bonuses contribute an extra 10% yearly income for our employees.

Saint Louis Sucre can offer all the advantages of a major corporation combined with the benefits of working in a company on a human scale. A position which enables one to have values…and to put them to work.
